DOMESTIC TRUCKING:

Parcel Ground - Door to Door U.S. Trucking:

US/Canadian LTL (less than truckload): (100% over cost. $100.00 over cost if we have to because it is a small shipment or we are trying to be competitive. Discounted from 100% over costs if a regular customer, over 1000 lbs or if we have to, in order to be competitive and get the business)

US/Canadian FCL (full truckload): ($200.00-$1000.00 per truckload or more. Just depends)

INTERNATIONAL AIR:

Parcel Air - Door to Door (At least $100.00 over our costs. We would prefer to get more when our costs are more than $300.00. We have to be careful, because if the weight is more or dimensions greater than the quoted/booked size/weight, we will get upcharged and loose our margin or even loose money.)

INTERNATIONAL OCEAN:

LCL (less than container) - CFS (central freight station) - coastal and inland terminals to foreign port terminals. (For a small pallet or boxes, we might go as low as $100.00 over costs. But really we want to try and clear $200.00 for each cubic meter of costs. Note that we usually charge by the lb, but on the ocean freight we are billed by the cubic meter at 1 cbm minimum. We also want to mark up the trucking from origin to the central freight station and make $100.00 plus over our costs for that leg of the shipment. We also want to charge at least $50.00 for palletizing in addition to the trucking of the pallet from the origin business or residence to the terminal or central freight station. When I have all of the costs and enter margins, I may discount on each leg or itemized service, if I think we need it to get the job. This is based on what the customer has told me - have they gotten another quote and just sort of a feel - are they a one time shipper that will pay more, or are they someone who is really shopping around. That's why you want to just send over to me and watch how I make the decision. )

FCL (full container) - coastal and inland container facilities: (On these we want to try and at least get a "booking fee" of $95 for reserving the container, $50 each for the AES filing and Certificate of Origin, 100% margin on the insurance which is usually $.55 per $100 declared value. If we are going to manage the drayage which is the term for trucking the container from the local storage depot, to the business or residence and then back to the rail yard or port, we want to mark that cost up another $100.00. The customer would pay all of this when we book, so that way we are getting the cost of the insurance and trucking up front and then the customer is billed directly by the carrier for the cost of the ocean vessel part of the shipment. That way we get our money quickly and up front, which should be a minimum of $200.00 profit, but if they need insurance and drayage, another $200-300 profit for us.)
